ITINERARY DAY BY DAY
DAY 1:
Airport reception . Travel to hotel, meals not included.
DAY 2:
LIMA – CUSCO (flight) Travel to Lima airport. Fly to Cusco, without guide (55 mins.). Reception at airport and transport to hotel. Rest to acclimate yourself to the altitude. In the afternoon, a Cusco tour guide will take you to the outskirts of town: El Templo del Sol – Cathedral - Tambomachay - Pukapucara - Sacsayhuaman - Q'enko.
DAY 3:
CUSCO – PISAC – OLLANTAYTAMBO Leave in private vehicle for the Sacred Valley. Guided visit to the Pisac Ruins, these were some of the most important fortresses in the Incan Empire, built to store the food reserves for the entire Empire. We will hike to the colonial town of Pisac to see the Indio-market (Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays). Lunch in a local restaurant to enjoy the local cuisine. In the afternoon, guided tour of the Incan Fort of Ollantaytambo that was a strategic military, religious and agriculture centre. At the end of the day, we will walk through this tiny town. Transport to hotel. Meals not included.
DAY 4:
OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUASCALIENTES (TRAIN) Transport to Aguas calientes by train. Transport to hotel. Lunch not included. Rest or walk to see the cascade. At the end of the afternoon, tour with a specialized guide to observe orchids of this region between the Sierra and Amazon .Dinner not included.
DAY 5:
AGUASCALIENTES- MACHU PICCHU – OLLANTAYTAMBO (TRAIN) At 06:30 am. a bus will take us to Machu Picchu. This day is dedicated to viewing the ruins. Lunch not included. Return to Aguascalientes by bus to take a train to Ollantaytambo at 4:30 pm, arriving at 6:15 pm. Transport to hotel in Ollantaytambo.
If you wish, you can climb the peak of Huayna Picchu. The climb is a little difficult. It is necessary to have good hiking shoes - and not have vertigo! From the top you will have a beautiful view. Allow approximately 2 hours there and back.
Day 6
OLLANTAYTAMBO – MORAY- MARAS - CHINCHERO – CUSCO We will visit the strange site of Maras: salt mines in the same valley! Salt has been exploited in the pre-Incan and the Colonial periods. We will see the craft of the salt miners. We will see the colonial town of Chinchero and visit of a colonial church. Arrive at Cusco in the afternoon. Transport to hotel. Meals not included.
Day 7
CUSCO Free day in Cusco to enjoy the city. Night at the hotel (meals not included).
Day 8
CUSCO – LIMA (flight) Travel from Cusco airport to Lima. Tour the Peruvian capital. Transfer at the airport or transport to hotel.
